Aperture/ Aperture Priority (AV) – determines how much light passes through the lens opening. Measured in ‘f’ numbers.
Autofocus – ability of the camera and lens to maintain the focus to the subject.
Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) – type of image sensor mostly used in DSLR.
Depth of Field – Mostly in portrait shots, small portion in focus and the other is blurred.
Digital Single-Lens Reflex (DSLR) – successor of SLR.
Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) – LCD or OLED screen that directly preview your captured image.
ISO – value which refers to a camera’s image sensor sensitivity.
Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) – is the most common image format used in photography.
Lens Mount – hole in front of a DSLR or mirrorless camera which an interchangeable lens is fitted.
Megapixel – unit measure used to describe sensor size in a digital camera.
Pixel – small dots in digital image.
Raw Files – image captured in RAW can be processed using editing software and data is taken directly from the camera’s sensor.

White Balance (WB) – camera’s ability to correct and adjust in different lightning conditions.
